Job description:SBW Consulting is currently seeking a full-time engineer with a passion for and experience in engineering/scientific analysis and research. Primary responsibilities will be analyzing and researching energy efficiency projects and programs in a highly collaborative environment. This position provides opportunities for advancement and steadily increasing responsibility.

Key job duties include the following:

  • Assess energy use and GHG emissions using rigorous analytical and measurement techniques in commercial, industrial, and residential facilities

  • Collect customer data through on-site and remote observations, interviews, and metering

  • Develop and review custom engineering calculations to evaluate energy use

  • Set up and perform in-depth energy performance modeling of equipment, systems, and buildings with simulation software packages or statistical analyses

  • Work efficiently and collaboratively with others on complex projects

Qualifications: The candidate should have:

  • At least five years of professional work experience in an energy or building science field with at least a B.S. degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline

  • Demonstrated competence in analyzing energy use in commercial or industrial systems, including physics-based modeling

  • Curiosity to explore the “why”, critical thinking skills, and a love of solving sometimes gnarly problems

  • Excellent writing, computer, oral communication, and team skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time

In addition, the ideal candidate would also have many of these:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Washington State

  • Demonstrated statistical analysis skills, such as regression and/or sample design and population estimation

  • Data processing, analysis, and associated coding skills, preferably with R or Python

  • Interest in project management and/or business development

  • Experience with demand response or demand flexibility, heat pumps or other forms of building electrification, distributed energy systems, microgrids, solar or other forms of renewable energy, electrical batteries or other forms of energy storage, transportation electrification, or Greenhouse Gas (GHG) or carbon accounting

Salary Range: The salary range is $90K-$115K annually, depending on experience.
